Stone Blood Bowl Pitch

Stone pitch for Blood Bowl has finally arrived!

Really heavy stuff, the sturdiest tabletop board I have ever seen. Comes in two parts, with dugout info on the side. Line of scrimmage is elevated and endzones have a bit longer squares.

First match on the stone stadium is fought between Dark Elf team and Skaven ratboys. Elfs have the home team advantage with 13 k fans, Skaven have 10 k supporters. First kick-off lets the Ratboys have an extra turn with Blitz! but the little finks can't manage to get more than push-back of the elf line.

Skaven defense is not the toughest in BB, but with a help of Stolen Playbook card and one lucky intercept they manage to postpone the inevitable. On the turn four Dark elfs score the first touchdown of the new stadium. Home crowd gets wild and wants to see more.

Teams get ready for the second kick-off and Skaven score fast two turn touchdown with duo of Gutter Runners on the front line. End of the first period sees skaven defense getting thinner: unlucky fouling (snake eyes) leaves the rats three players short.

Even more skaven leave the stone field by getting beaten up by the angry home crowd full of blood lust elfs. Dwarf referee can't do little more than count the bodies. Elfs stall the game with cage near the end zone. Just when the Rat Ogre muscle is needed - he gets the Wild Animal fit... Elfs score the 2-1 TD on turn 14. So, skaven got the two turns left to make it even. Some bad rolling and too thin lines end the game with third Dark Elf touchdown on last turn. So it goes, 3-1 TDs and 2-0 casualtys for the elfs leave no room for explanations. Great new stone stadium had it first game, looking forward to many more.

Dungeonbowl First Test

Dungeonbowl? What did you say?

"The key difference between Dungeonbowl and Blood Bowl as is rather obvious from the name, is that Dungeonbowl is played in a dungeon!"

So, giving this concept the first tryout we got some dungeon floor tiles from Fantasy Flight Games Descent and some treasure counters from the same game. Some tape and markers made fast teleport tiles numbered from 1 to 6. Game board after the first turn. Tried to keep the board layout simple and symmetrical. Human team started from red-white endzone on lower left, Dark Elfs opposite from them in Violet-white and Chaos Dwarfs from Blue-white. Six treasure chests were placed in the big central cave. Teleport locations highlighted - those quick-n-dirty tapes don't show too clear in the pictures. All teams grab the closest chest and suffer some turn overs because of the traps. In the picture human team Indian runner is standing over the chest that finally revealed the ball. Human team star player Mighty Zug is first with the ball - and his AG of 2 makes him the first to drop it too. Human screen is fortunately in place - big crowd gathers in the central chamber. Human thrower makes the pass - but lineman have no luck on the catch department. So, Dark Elf blitzer is the next one to try his luck with the pinky disco ball. Elfs throw the ball - but a small miracle happens - and Hobgoblin intercepts in mid flight! Bull centaurs guard the hobbos run. Dark Elf runner teleports in an attempt to prevent the goal, only to get blocked out of the way by Chaos Dwarf Blocker with claw mutation. On turn 8 the lucky greenskin scores a touchdown and thus ends the game.

First impression notes on Dungeonbowl

Game has clearly more randomness than the regular Blood Bowl - movement thru teleports is risky business and the starting location of the ball is rolled with dice. If more random equals more fun for gamers this is not a problem. Ending the game with first touchdown and fewer player figures on the team gives faster playtime, even with three coaches going at it. After the game it was agreed that more alternative routes to the endzones might give good variation to the tactics. We used our regular BB team rosters - not the college of magic lists given in basic Dungeonbowl rules. Inducements were taken with full team value, but only 9 players in game - six starting on endzones, three reserves.

Blood Bowl Match Report

After the long summer break the Blood Bowl season is finally starting!

Played two games against the new Norse team (seen in all black undercoat jerseys), first with Chaos Dwarfs and then with my old Wicked Willows Dark Elf team.

Cage is tightly packed and Bull Centaurs are leading the attack from the front.

Damn those double skulls! They made me lose this match to the all black Norse team 1-2.

My Chaos Dwarf team history in the making: First touchdown with basic roster lineup!
Minotaur (miniature courtesy of Jani, thanks) has pounded all Norse opposition to the ground and Bull Centaur acts as fail-safe. Hobgoblins finally manage to throw and catch without messing it up. Most Valuable Player Award went to the scoring hobgoblin, so he is the first of the green skins to level up. In the previous games playing as team value underdog gave me inducement money to hire star players and they made all the goals.

The second match gave huge inducement payoffs to the Norse team, and here the hired gun Icepelt Hammerblow meets head on with Dark Elf lines lead by the Kruellagh Witch elf. This game saw many fast two turn goals: the game was 2-2 after the first period, both teams scoring in rapid succession.

In the final turn of the second half Dark elf Runner only had to make one extra Go For It square to score the winning touchdown... but the dice gave the infamous number 1 and Wicked Willows fans had to settle for the close call tie 3-3. All in all, the last game was great fast paced fun - and it could have gone for either of the teams.

Dark elf Marauder Mod -Painting

Vaalea perusväri: Citadel Sunburst Yellow + Citadel Wash Baal Red.
Tummempi väri: Miniature paints 22 Sininen + Black ink Wash + Citadel Ice Blue Highlights.
Figu on ollut Blood Bowl otteluissa Lineman numerolla 8, joka sai onnekkaasti Improvement Rollissa tuplakutoset, eli alustassa sen vuoksi merkintä: "Strength 4".

Dark elf Marauder Mod - Greenstuff sculpting

Perus Greenstuff meininkiä - eli ensin isompi lituska rautalankaan kiinni tukevasti ja sitten muotoilemaan.

Dark elf Marauder Mod - Choppin and riggin

Lisäksi vähän rautalankaa tukemaan greenstuff osia.

Tupla pinning ja Uhu super poweria liitokseen.

Eihän tuo rengashaarniska tunika oikein sovellu Blood Bowl kentälle.

This is gone get worse before it gets better.

Ylimääräiset varusteet irti, ja valmistaudutaan ottamaan esille järeämpiä työkaluja.

Ken miekkaan tarttuu, siihen myös itse hukkuu.

"Haa - your ass is mine!"

Dark elf Marauder Mod - Start with paint stripping
