Nurgle Warrior - Double Skulls and Disturbing Tentacles

This was a long time coming: Second Warrior for the team Nurgle.

Start of the build: scrap from three different sources. Firstly the main body parts from Kinder Easter Egg surprise Kai character for Kung Fu Panda 3. Left hand gauntlet and the head are left over bits from GW Ogre Kingdoms sprue. Base is a cork from some French cognac, wooden part marked with Fleur-de-lis.

The Kai figure had a rubber band operated swinging system, band removed and torso pinned and glued together.

Bits attached and some mould lines filed away.

Big holes on the back just called for some green stuff tentacles...

First layer of green stuff modifications.

Some more green stuff and texture paint for the base. This Nurgle Warrior is the first to get a leveling bonus: "Block" skill marked to the base.

Some painting in and the second skill advance is "Guard".

Nurgle Warrior - Red Skull mod with Green stuff

Initial layer of Green stuff: Red Skull signature officer leather jacket. Knife and drill work to make the left hand gauntlet corrupted the Nurgle way. Chipping away at the legs to give room for sculpted boots.

Tentacles of Nurgle now control the animate body of Red Skull - added knuckleduster to the right hand. These hands are made for casualty score not ball handling.

Nurgle's Rot has taken it's toll - boils and puss ooze out of the leather jackets shoulders. Hail Hydra armband on the left bicep.

One more Zombie for the Road

What does Zombie need? Brains! So this one has his own supply ready at hand if the work on the Team Necros defense lines gets dull.

Treeman conversion for Blood Bowl

Build a new custom Treeman miniature for Wood Elf team. Lip base with magnet to show extra skills like Guard.

Start of the build was cutting of right arm from this plastic D&D figure. Most of the Big Guy miniatures have the disadvantage of being somewhat top heavy and tend to fall down a lot unintentionally during the gameplay. With this light weight plastic core even quite tall Treeman stays upright.

Some wire for the hands skeleton structure, found Ogre Kingdoms loose head in the bit box and Secret Weapon resin base with with something that might transform itself to a tree stump.

Greenstuff rope to give better grip for Milliput arms and filled some holes with the same stuff. Added hair around the Ogre head and some extra beard to hide the wire attachment.

Terracotta Milliput arms in place and few ink washes with dark brown. The lip base is magnetized for marking extra skills and giving better balance for the miniature.

The same lip base can used for the Take Root alternative miniature to show when the Treeman is stationary.

Team Necro Update - Green stuff Mod Werewolf

Werewolf miniature after first ink washes with two re-roll markers made from undead shields.

Base with basic green wash, figure undercoated with Vallejo cold grey.

Gap filling with extra fur bits, quick-n-dirty basing with Citadel Astrogranite .

Some green stuff additions of knee and shoulder pads, plus torn up pants.

Assembled miniature, the left leg position still under consideration, eventually moved it a bit higher.

Pinning the miniature was quite a handful - but with all the limbs as separate bits gives great variation options for poses.

Start of the build with sprue of the Werewolf from Heresy Miniatures sculpted by Andy Foster, clearly very talented guy with a knack of making striking dynamic poses for the figures he designs. And he was nice enough to send some candy with the miniatures so this post package was really a pleasure to open.

Necromantic Blood Bowl team - Start of the Build

Starting a new league and using freshly build Necromantic team. Named "Lokapojat" (translation: dirty boys), after Finnish company that does waste management by dumping used fat from restaurants to the sever system... Very illegal and free of any moral inhibitions. Perfect mind set for Blood Bowl team also.

Didn't have any Necro BB miniatures, so had to dig deep into the past... All the way to the first edition of the Blood Bowl and it's only expansion set Death Zone. There was some illustrated cardboard pieces with undead players, Zombies and Ghouls. You have to start somewhere, right?

After first pre-season game against newbie Dwarf them, the roster has 13 players, most of them Zombies.

After 3-0 win I had my hopes up with this team and started to look for miniatures to represent my players. Ended up building them mostly from GWs Vampire Counts line. Zombie Regiment boxed set and blister of Spirit Host figures, to be more exact.

Really like these Zombie sculpts, think they have a lot of potential. Plastic is easy to assemble and separate leg and arm bits give variation to the setup and poses. Zombie Regiment sprue had also gravestones that would make nice turn and re-roll markers.

I think this guy with almost skeleton like appearance was supposed to hang from the regiment standard, but decided to give him legs and arms to move around the pitch. Used green stuff to add some details, knee pads and shoulder guards mostly.

The Zombie boys are still work in progress, but had painted some skin tones and spashed on Hashut Copper for the armor bits.

Spirit Host figures are used as Ghouls, dressed only in robes they relate the low AV of 7 and if these poses don't say "Dodge", I don't know what does.

First painted black and the drybrushed with grey - quick'n'dirty - still WIP but getting there.

Skaven standard bearer conversion for Blood Bowl

Green stuff banner and bell build on top of the wire mesh.

Changing the sword for huge bell, left the handle then drilled and glued some wire for the basic structure. The extra weight on the lower part of the figure is gonna help with the balance too.

The sword looks little out of place on the Blood Bowl pitch sidelines, so it has to go. Few cuts with cutters to start the removal, then finishing touches with knife and file.

Starting point for Turn marker or Re-roll counter - Old Warhammer Battle figure standard bearer.

Skink Conversion for Blood Bowl

Some basic Green stuff sculpts to make the skink more suitable for the Blood Bowl pitch.

Starting with Skink archer miniature from Warhammer Battle plastic line. Cut away the weapons and the arrow quiver from the back.

Lizardmen BB Saurus mods

Primer still visible on the knee pad and the base, going for the rust effect on the helmet. Still missing some primary colors, but the general idea is that mismatched gear has been looted and found here and there. And the humid jungle has made the corrosion set in.

Pinning the helmet with double wire, keeps it in place even when going gets rough on the pitch.

Harvesting the Wehrmacht helmet from toy soldier. Iron saw cuts the head easy enough.

Painting still work in progress, grey primer still on helmet, basic green lizard tone with Citadel Foundation Green + some Vallejo blue.

More details of greenstuff mods on Saurus figs.
