Chaos Dwarfs Vs. Orcs Match Report

Heated battle between Red Anvils (Chaos Dwarfs) and Terveet Kädet (Orcs) started with unusual Weather roll:

This meant that both teams had to manage the game with less than 11 players on the pitch from time to time.

Rubber band trousers do not count as Secret Weapon do they? The ball landing on the middle line doesn't allow cage forming so huge pile up of players starts. First half was without touchdowns -but Anvils Minotaur killed Lineman Orc right after the first kick-off. Later the same Minotaur made one of the Goblins bleed too, making him the hardest hitter under the blistering sun.

Strange things keep happening: the attack is lead by solitary Dwarf Blocker - and not for very long I can tell you. Guess this wasn't the real offence but a way to postpone the Orcs forward momentum. Tunnel dwelling dwarfs really felt the suns evil rays: defense lines were full of holes. Orcs made the first goal in 6th turn of the second period, leaving Anvils only two turns to return the fire.

Whooaaaa! Making it even in the last round, hobgoblins seem to keep up their sunny side. Dwarf Blocker with Guard skill actually made this break thru of Orc lines possible. MVP went to the Minotaur - making it the first player to reach Veteran status in experience. Turned down the AG increase in favor of Guard skill - this Big Guy is definitely a keeper.

Blood Bowl Match Report

After the long summer break the Blood Bowl season is finally starting!

Played two games against the new Norse team (seen in all black undercoat jerseys), first with Chaos Dwarfs and then with my old Wicked Willows Dark Elf team.

Cage is tightly packed and Bull Centaurs are leading the attack from the front.

Damn those double skulls! They made me lose this match to the all black Norse team 1-2.

My Chaos Dwarf team history in the making: First touchdown with basic roster lineup!
Minotaur (miniature courtesy of Jani, thanks) has pounded all Norse opposition to the ground and Bull Centaur acts as fail-safe. Hobgoblins finally manage to throw and catch without messing it up. Most Valuable Player Award went to the scoring hobgoblin, so he is the first of the green skins to level up. In the previous games playing as team value underdog gave me inducement money to hire star players and they made all the goals.

The second match gave huge inducement payoffs to the Norse team, and here the hired gun Icepelt Hammerblow meets head on with Dark Elf lines lead by the Kruellagh Witch elf. This game saw many fast two turn goals: the game was 2-2 after the first period, both teams scoring in rapid succession.

In the final turn of the second half Dark elf Runner only had to make one extra Go For It square to score the winning touchdown... but the dice gave the infamous number 1 and Wicked Willows fans had to settle for the close call tie 3-3. All in all, the last game was great fast paced fun - and it could have gone for either of the teams.

Gamorrean Guard - Painting and Playing

Gamorrean Guard and Hulk are the last line of defence before the Emperors goal. But is it maybe safer to let the Wookie win...

One point of articulation, but still cant reach it!

Why the big hole in the front you ask - attaching the Guard to the game table.

Some dry brushing highlights.

Ink wash on the green stuff surface.

Some old Citadel colors (and some ancient ones) +Vallejo cold grey +Cadmium yellow =Gamorrean skin tone.

Gamorrean Guard - Legs

Sculpting done.

Same material is used to fill the gap on back.

Following the same color logic: Terracotta Milliput for pants.

Some final sculpting with blade.

When Green stuff is sculpted with fingers it makes nice skin texture almost automatically - and green being the skin color of the guard its perfect material for the top layer.

White Superfine Milliput to build the legs - knowing that the football is gonna take heavy toll on these lower parts - it is nice to have the final color on the socks so tear and wear dont look so bad.

Gamorrean Guard - Head on

Greenstuff - Gamorrean Guard with ducktail... well maybe not.

Uhu super glue to keep the hogs head on.

Head is pinned to the soccer figure with double wire.

Keep those metal hips swingin! The big metal screw and wire helps to keep the balance on the lower half.

Gamorrean Guard - Building

The basic body parts build up this huge hull of space big. Head and hands sold separately.

Parts before assembly - the Kenner figure legs are saved in the bits box for future projects. Left hand is pinned in place with wire, the right hand moves - so this is first modified Star wars figure with ONE point of articulation!

The back piece was too long to fit the soccer player figure, so I ended up cuting it to three smaller ones.

Gamorrean Guard - Start

Wonder what this code 175002 03 means? Maybe Jabba keeps better track of these guys that everybody gives him credit for.

Arm out of the way so we can bring in new tools...

Found some soft tissue under the armpit - but this bad boy is so thick that its gonna take awhile to cut thru.

Having more or less gone thru available original trilogy Pez figures, my eye turned to the Kenner vintage figures. Had a bunch of these guys back in the day, and thought that Jabba wouldnt miss one his guards too much. After all, he is just going out to play some soccer, and that is like a walk in the park compared to the Rancor's pit.
